The City of Dana Point is seeking a top-notch professional to fill its vacant planner position in the Community Development Department. The Associate Planner is the full journey level class in the professional planning series. Under general direction, the position conducts studies, analyzes data and prepares reports on current and long-range projects in areas of planning, zoning and infill development; and performs related duties as assigned.

Candidates must possess three years of progressively responsible work in planning and community development. Experience working with GIS mapping programs highly desirable.

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in urban planning, or a closely related field is required. American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) certificate is highly desirable.Candidates should possess or be able to obtain a valid California Drivers License. This position is non-exempt under FLSA standards.

Senior Planner

Salary: $6,713 – $9,026 monthly.

The City of Dana Point’s Community Development Department is seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to fill its vacancy for Senior Planner. Under general direction, the position performs and directs complex professional planning work related to current and long range planning projects. The Senior Planner also assists with planning, organizing and directing the work and the employees of the Community Development Department.

Candidates must possess five years of progressively responsible work in municipal planning and community development.

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in urban planning, or a closely related field is required. Master’s degree is highly desirable. American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) certificate is highly desirable. Candidates should possess or be able to obtain a valid California Drivers License. This position is an exempt, at-will position under FLSA standards.
